Main Street - The Brief

Main Street is a detached period property consisting of a converted Historic barn with a modern two storey side extension. It is located in the pretty village of Thorner, an ancient village dating back to a Saxon settlement and mentioned in the Domesday Book. The project comprised of the demolition of an existing conservatory to make way for a slightly larger single storey extension to provide better use of internal space. This would create an open-plan family kitchen dining area along with outdoor sitting area. Great care was taken during our lengthy design process; we consulted planners and the Parish Council at a very early stage in order to gauge opinions, establish guidelines and to allow all interested parties involvement with the process. Our main aim was to complement the existing building while still achieving the client requirements. We are really pleased with the result!
