Otley Gate House - The Brief

Many people have walked past this site, not aware of the small building that was concealed within the overgrown vegetation. Understood to be designed by John Carr, Otley Lodge was a disused Grade II listed gate house dating back to the late 18th Century. The newly exposed structure is one of a pair linked by ornate wrought iron gates and stone walls. An unfortunate extended period of disuse led to the gatehouse becoming unsightly and dilapidated. The structure has now been converted to form a one bedroom self-contained unit with a small area of private amenity, with nearly all of the original features retained and reinstated.
